Present To Heal

“Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.” Luke 5:17

Did the Pharisees and teachers of the law realize they needed healed? Do I?

Oh Lord, please remind me of my brokenness today and my dire need of You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Willing To

Just as the sick
need the Great Physician
to touch
and heal,
inner brokenness
is redeemed
only by
the Master’s skill.

  1. Deb,
I am so glad you wrote this. It is what I need to hear continually. Thank you so much!

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” Psalm 51:17

    Love,
    Theresa

  2. 🙂

    Thank you, Deb.

    “…the Great Physician
    to touch
    and heal,
    inner brokenness…”

“to touch … inner brokenness” … only He could reach that far and I’m glad He chose to do that for me!

    Bless you, Deb 🙂

    Touched by Him,
    ann

Look what the Lord has done!!!

  3. lol… my first attempt at bolding your extract didn’t quite work the way I planned but I’m still dancing 🙂

Please edit for me, O Patient One 🙂

    Blessings,
    ann

  4. Deb, Some of the Pharisees did know they needed the Great Physician – Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimithea come to mind – but I suspect most of them didn’t. I’m reminded of the comment over on Loren’s blog (I think it was Margaret’s comment) about the woman who didn’t like Amazing Grace because she didn’t think she was a wretch. How many miss out on true inner healing because they fail to recognize their need? So glad I have let Him heal me. 🙂 Peace, Linda

  5. The ego self-medicate but nobody can put me together but my Maker. Thank you Deb for the Master’s touch!
    🙂

  6. I love that verse from Psalm 51 and needed it too today! (everyday!) So thankful that we have a Savior who does not despise our brokenness. 🙂 God bless you and all you bring to Him!

  7. My daughter absolutely loves that song, and what a perfect one to go here! I don’t have to be afraid of my brokenness or ashamed of it . . .I can just look and see what He is doing and has done. 🙂 God bless you and your every praise and dance for Him! Thank you for gracing me again!

  8. I like your bold answer! It blesses and is bold for Him! 🙂 No editing required, Ann-full-of-grace and boldness for her King!

  9. Linda, I have thought often about that comment from Margaret! Mentioned it somewhere else too! And if I’m honest, there are times when I think I’m “okay”, doing good, not really a wretch or in need of much . . .maybe just a tweak here and there. Then I am humbled and get to see that I am only held together by He. 🙂 I’m so glad we have Him too, Linda, to heal and to glue us together. God bless you and carry you through your day!

  10. God bless you for all the ways you praise and glorify Him, Rea, and let Him touch others through you!

  11. Deb,
I praise God everyday for you.You are a source of strength. As I read this I remember a song I use to sing in youth choir”you who are broken, you who need mending, stop by the potters house, give him the fragments of your broken life,my friend, the potter wants to put you back together again” . How awesome is that! He’s our healer, the mender of broken hearts, all we have to do is go to him.
It reminds me of the scripture(Mark 6:56)”Wherever he entered, into villages, cities or in the country, they laid the sick in the market places, and begged him that they might just touch the hem of his garment, and as many as touched him, they were made well”.Be it physically, spiritually.emotionally,We too, must touch him to find healing. The way we touch him is to spend time in his presence. We need to ask him to heal us and then trust him to do it his way and in his time.

Lord, you suffered, died and were buried for me so that I might have healing, forgiveness and eternal life.By your stripes I am healed. In your presence I can reach out and touch you and in turn be touched by you.Only you know what is best for me,so I ask that you would reveal that to me.when my heart is overwhelmed lead me to the rock, that is higher that I am.Lord,I want everything I do be glorifying to you, help me to be a good steward.I thank you that I can hand over my brokeness to you.I love you lord.Thank you for all that you’re doing through this post, all praise to you.

    Kenisha

  12. Did they? I guess I have to ask, Do I? that’s the real question. We always point fingers at the Pharisees – and we (read I) sit in a glass house. I need his touch. I rebel, I don’t listen, I look at what I can see and not what I can’t. And he’s there every. single. moment.

As always I leave inspired. Thank you deb.

  13. Oh Kenisha, I loved the words to that song and the visual image it gives us. We don’t have to stay broken. . .Jesus is here. And thank you for showing the way to touch Him, by spending time with Him. 🙂
And THEN . . .your precious prayer comes along and I am swept away to Him. Thank you so much, so so much!God bless you and your life that you have handed over to Him!

  14. I need His touch too, more than I realize, I’m sure. 🙂 So glad that He is present to heal. I don’t want to ignore that or take it for granted. God bless you as you are touched and healed by the One who loves you and cares so deeply about every detail of your life.

  15. Sometimes healing comes to us.

A great gift he gave me. I remember praying as a child, for him to take away my parents afflictions, and eventually he lead them to righteousness, I said Thank You Lord, but I needed to see he had a greater purpose for me, not the road I wanted to walk. But walked none the less.

I think of you often, pray for you without ceasing…as Paul taught.

  16. Thank you so much for your prayers! That means so much to me and by them I am lifted up and able to keep going! 🙂
What a testimony that what you prayed as a child was answered for your parents. That is powerful E. I’m am so glad He gave you that to hold on to.
God bless you as you walk with Him today.
