Excited About Jesus

“Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.” Luke 2:20

I love how the shepherds didn’t hesitate to share their excitement and wonder at what they had heard and seen.

Oh Jesus, help us share the excitement of You birthing new joy in us daily. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Birthing Joy

Help us to share
the new joy that is birthed
each time You meet with us
and illuminate Your word.

  1. There are times that I have been like the shepherds and then I fall away – not from God but from the excitement. Need to work on that.

  2. Me too, Tammy. I really like those excited times. I started doing something I heard about from Ann Voskamp, where you list little joys you see throughout the day. It’s helping! Thank you so much for coming by Tammy and God bless you and yours!

  3. Deb, I love the idea of birthing Joy, because Joy, once born, will never die. Happiness is fleeting and dependent on circumstances, but Joy depends only on Jesus! Again you have said so much in so few words, even fewer than usual, I think. πŸ˜‰ Peace, Linda

  4. I’m shrinking! ha! But as long as my joy isn’t, that’s okay! I so appreciate knowing that joy doesn’t die. He is our Joy and ever present. πŸ™‚
God bless you and the Jesus Joy you hold and share!

  5. Feeling your excitement and it reminds me of the treasure that awaits me in His word! πŸ™‚

  6. Thanks Deb,

    Nice poem πŸ™‚

Very relevant truth. Sometimes I too feel a need to ‘renew the vows’ as the excitement lessens. Praying alongside you .. “Oh. Jesus, help us share the excitement of You birthing new joy in us daily”

Reminds me of the song “My First Love” (The Stoneleigh Band) There’s a verse that says :

“Restore the years of the church’s slumber,
    Revive the fire that has grown so dim;
Renew the love of those first encounters,
That we may come alive again.
And we will rise like the dawn throughout the earth,
Until the trumpet announces Your return.”

    Thanks again, Deb

  7. YES! Each time I come . . .take the time to be with Him, to listen and share, I find treasure and joy! Want to stay in a constant state of that. πŸ™‚ God bless you for the treasure you are, full of the Word!

  8. The shepherds got it right… and their joy is still contagious! Hard to read the Bible without feeling it! πŸ™‚ Thanks, Deb.

  9. Thank you Ann, for adding more depth and meaning to my simple stuff! πŸ™‚ It’s more of those grace prints of His, left by you. “That we may come alive again.” love that. Sometimes I don’t realize that I need to come alive again, until I do. God bless you as He births new joy in you today!

  10. Wouldn’t it have been thrilling to be there, a shepherd at that time? πŸ™‚ Don’t want anything to keep me from being excited about Him each day. God bless you and your contagious Jesus joy!

  11. Honestly I want to do cartwheels at times for the amazing things He has shown and done for me. But I guess there’s a reason why I can’t do cartwheels so I just thank God that I can do jumping jacks!

  12. hahaha! Laughing and smiling . . .jumping jacks we will do! It will be good for me too! God bless your heart that does cartwheels for Him!
