Kept Back From Honor

” Now therefore flee to your place. I said I would greatly honor you, but in fact, the Lord has kept you back from honor.” Numbers 24:11

Balak was so upset in the above verse, when Balaam couldn’t curse Israel. Balaam could only speak the words the Lord put in his mouth.

Oh Lord, please keep me back from honor today if it would in anyway dishonor You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

To Honor You

Oh let me fill my days
with all the ways
there are to
honor You –
to pray and praise
Your wonderful name
giving glory to
all You do.

  1. Amen! My desires are to love and honor the Lord, and to render praise and worship unto Him! He alone is worthy of all the praise! In the good times, He’s worthy, and in the bad times, He’s worthy! Thanks for getting my day off to a great start! God bless! πŸ™‚

  2. Hey Debs, another wonderful post. This post in particular made me smile. Because I am so familiar to times when I honoured myself over God with respect to decisions. It took me less than 40 years to return on track, but boy did I have some roundabouts that made me dizzy.
It takes quite a lot to give up our own honor to honor God. But let’s not hold on to our own honor, you are likely to lose strength, become dizzy and fall.

  3. Amen, Deb.

This is so ‘simply’ beautiful. Accolades mean nothing if He’s not glorified. May I want nothing more than to honour Him in all I do.

Thank you. May God reward your faithfulness.

  4. Deb, To honor Him is important above all else. I am always amazed by the way He blesses me when I do that, when I give Him the glory (which was His anyway, so I guess I don’t really give Him the glory, I just acknowledge that it belongs to Him in the first place). I love this great and simple poem that He has inspired you to write. πŸ™‚ Peace, Linda

  5. Your posts and words are so full of praise to Him. It just rolls out of you! I love that! Thank you and God bless you as you honor Him each day! What a blessing you are!

  6. I love how you put that, Rita! That “honor” that we may be kept back from, isn’t all it’s cut out to be. God bless you and your life that honors Him!

  7. As I try to come up with what more I can do, it is often things that would bring honor to myself that come to mind. sigh. So glad that He keeps me back from that, so I can be blessed in His honor and praise!
God bless you and all the ways His honor shines through you!

  8. I’m so blessed that you mentioned that , Linda, us giving Him honor. It is His honor! But, He is so gracious, He lets us think we are giving it to Him. haha! What a wonderful and honor worthy God we have! God bless you and inspire you today!

  9. πŸ™‚ Very nice, Deb! That we would all live and praise God each day! Thank you for these words.

  10. God bless you Eric, and your praise of Him! Thanks for always being so nice and encouraging! πŸ™‚

  11. Thank you Deb for your non-stop honor to God and make us remember to do the same. When I honor God and make Him first it doesn’t matter where I am in man’s list. I knew where I am in His.

  12. Oh sweet spoon . . .I absolutely love how You honor Him, with such a humble and beautiful spirit, that finds Him everywhere! Thank you so much for that!
