Our Portion

“Then the Lord said to Aaron, ‘You shall have no inheritance in their land, nor shall you have any portion among them; I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel.” Numbers 18:20

I knew of a man who valued his inheritance more than his father from which it came.

Thank You, Lord, for what we have in You. Help us not to grasp and grab for earthly portions. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Our portion
our peace
our joy
and happiness
lies in the promise
of Jesus
our hope
and sustenance.

  1. “Lord, I had a hard time seeking things of value until I found you.”

Deb, I don’t have a hard time seeking words of value if it comes from you.

  2. Deb, I’m so glad Jesus is our portion and inheritance! You are doing such a great job of pointing to where Jesus can be found in Numbers, not a place most people look for Him. πŸ™‚ Peace, Linda

  3. So blessed that our portions lie in Him! And that He gives me valuable friends like you! God bless you and all that you value about Jesus!

  4. Sometimes Linda, I get a little concerned about my lack of depth, my more surface kind of thinking. Then He reminds me that these are to be simple poems from a simple faith, to encourage. Thank you for helping me keep seeking Him and seeing Him throughout the scriptures!
So thankful too, that He is ours and everlasting. We are secure in Him! God bless you and all you have in Him!

  5. “Our portion
    our peace
    our joy
    and happiness
    lies in the promise
    of Jesus
    our hope
    and sustenance.”

And all God’s people say “Amen!” πŸ˜‰

Thanks Deb. Thanks for reminding us that all our hope is in Him.

  6. That should be ‘hope’ … even though my eternal home will be with Him πŸ™‚

    Thanks for the edit,

  7. No problem! I love how it worked both ways! πŸ™‚ He is our home and our hope! And you are one of His blessings to us all!

  8. I still like to have some nice things but before I came to Jesus I had a serious ” stuff” problem.
I had almost forgotten that “me” , I didn’t like that me.
    he was never satisfied.
    Thanks for this!

  9. Something I definitely need to keep remembering Deb. Blessings!

  10. I loved how you describe this! πŸ™‚ It’s okay to have nice things. It’s okay knowing Jesus is nicer than it all! πŸ™‚ God bless the new you!

  11. Hi Eden! I was thinking of you as I read this today . . .
