Carts, Oxen and Shoulders

“So Moses took the carts and the oxen and gave them to the Levites.” Numbers 7:6
“But to the sons of Kohath he gave none because theirs was the service of the holy things, which they carried on their shoulders.” Numbers 7:9

Some were asked to carry heavy articles that required oxen and carts. Others would simply use the shoulders God had given them.

Thank You, Lord, for supplying me with what I need to serve You today. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Our Supplier

I come
before You
with nothing
to serve.
You supply me
with new life,
able hands
and words.

How has God supplied you for service today?

  1. Thank you for sharing what he has blessed you with!
    Your words crafted beautifully.
Your thoughts are refreshing each day.
    Your self is pure brilliance.
    Thank God for you!

  2. I love how He has supplied YOU, Sweet Rea. Your energy, joy and kindness jumps into our lives by the power of His Holy Spirit. You supercharge us while He changes us. A very important service! 🙂

  3. Oh wow.

    Here comes the singing again…

“Oh to be His Hand extended…
    reaching out to the oppressed.
Let me touch Him, let me touch Jesus,
so others will know and be blessed.”

Thank you, Deb. Sometimes I pull back because I’m not ‘comfortable’ serving where He shows me. When I surrender myself to Him, He leads me and enables me to work the way He wants me to. ( Another song! 🙂 “My storage is empty and I am available to You” )

    God bless you, Deb

  4. I have been struggling with my relationship to my sister, younger sister, and want to know how God wants me to listen without getting angry. I know I should be his vessel, and pour out to her, but I struggle. Family relationships are not always easy, even in Christ’s time we saw how they handled things- Please pray that I can hold steadfast and listen, be there for her the way he wants me to be…or maybe its not me he plans to use, but from this, let me learn. Thanks for listening!

I do love her with all my heart-

  5. Deb, This reminds me of a post I read on another blog last week about being a spiritual begger. It is when we come to Him with nothing, recognizing we have nothing of our own to give, that we receive the blessing of His Kindom. Peace, Linda

  6. I am learning too, about serving the way He wants me to, instead of the way I thought I should. 🙂 Love your singing comments. They make my heart so glad! God bless you and the melody you are for Him!

  7. I know about those family relationships not being easy, E. Praying for you now and will continue. You are so wise to know that He may use someone else and your willingness to learn and listen to Him blesses me. Makes me cry. Being able to listen to her, that is a huge service right there. It may be exactly what she needs, more than words or actions . . .just ears that hear. God bless you dear E and all the ways you serve Him, which are many!

  8. Thank you so much for sharing that Linda! God is doing something with that in me today . . .God bless you, a spiritual begger and giver of good things!

  9. I never noticed the distinction in those verses Deb. It really does seem as though some of us are given carts, and some of us have to just heft things on our shoulders. But it is nice to know that, even though they had to hoist them on their shoulders, the sons of Kohath were carrying holy things. Blessings!

  10. I love how you reveal that. I want to carry and hold holy things close to me too . . .not pull them around behind in a U-haul. 🙂 God bless you, Eden, and all that He gives you in order to serve!
