Outside the Camp

“You shall put out both male and female; you shall put them outside the camp, that they may not defile their camps in the midst of which I dwell.” Numbers 5:3

I remember being isolated and defiled by my sin.

Thank You, Jesus, for hanging on a cross outside the camp for me. And here’s a simple poem . . .

The Way In

Shut out, put away
defiled through and through
I didn’t know the way in
to be close to You.

So You met me where I was
there in the dark alone
and brought me into Your light
calling me Your own.

  1. so many look for the way in.
it is so hard to explain that it is not like that to folks, they dont understand that the work is done.
    thanks Deb

  2. Isn’t it amazing how we as Christians before coming to know Christ, had such sickness without or Lord. I find it hard to understand how once I was like a man cast out of the camp defiled, and at that point in time the defilement was not till the evening but was piled and thick upon me long term.

Praise God for putting me in the lamb’s book of life. I willing forever kneel to him in joy, forever.

  3. Thank you for sharing that, that the way in isn’t through what we do, but is done already by Jesus. 🙂 You bless us here . . .God bless you!

  4. This post reminded me once again that the Lord understands every situation. It also makes me so glad that He made a way.

  5. Your passion for Him and what He’s done for you/us jumps off the screen. Thank you for ever placing Him first in what you write and in your heart. May it be contagious!

  6. I’m so glad too! I think about how it must have been then, when they were under the law . . .
And I was praying for you this morning. Are you feeling better?
    love you!

  7. Yes, I think it is has run it’s course. I have just a slight cough, but my sinuses have finally dried up…so nice to be breathing through my nose again.

  8. Deb, thank you for the prayer. Love you, too! 🙂

  9. Yay!! It’s those simple things – like breathing! – that can make us happy! 🙂

  10. You are so welcome and I’m so thankful that He has you in His care!

  11. Deb, It is dark outside the camp. Without the Light we can’t find the way back in. I love this line of your poem: “So You met me where I was there in the dark alone.” I am so thankful that He met me where I was because without His grace I would still be lost. Peace, Linda

  12. Thanks Deb
Your post reminds me of a song

“Standing outside the portals, standing outside denied,
    Knowing that with the demons ever you shall abide;
Never to share the beauties awaiting the sanctified
O what an awful picture, standing outside …”

Thanks Deb, thanks for reminding us that He has given the opportunity for us to come inside and be with Him.

    God bless you,

  13. Yes! So glad that He came outside the camp for me and everyone. 🙂 Thank you Linda for sharing that grace that He gives!

  14. I love your song references! You, Linda and Theresa are really good at that and it adds to the understanding and depth of simple words. 🙂 God bless you, Ann, and your heart that seeks His opportunities!

  15. Hi Deb,
This morning I was talking to my Pastor at our Bible study telling him how blessed we are to see the many who are sin sick and are coming our way asking for prayer. I remember the days before I accepted Christ how hard I tried to win the love of God but never seemed to get it right and all of a sudden one day when I gave up and asked Him in, the whole paradigm changed and I was filled with God’s love that is better than anything I’ve ever experienced before! Thank you for your beautiful poem and I pray God continues to use you to share His truths through such a beautiful medium.
    In Christ,

  16. What a beautiful testimony, Vineet, of what it’s like to be on the outside looking in, then giving in to Him being the way! Thank you so much for sharing how God’s love is better than anything. 🙂 God bless you and yours!

  17. “So You met me where I was
    there in the dark alone”

Yes this is exactly what He has been doing each time I distance away from Him whenever I allow guilt to stay longer than it should. I just feel so loved whenever He comes and comfort me!

  18. That is so beautiful, sweet Rea, how He does that for you. Your sharing makes me love Him all the more! Thank you!!!!
