They Did Good

“Thus the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so they camped by their standards and so they broke camp, each one by his family, according to their father’s houses.” Numbers 2:34

Often we point out the times when the children of Israel disobeyed, rebelled and grumbled. So I loved seeing this, where they did all that the Lord commanded.

Father, please forgive me when my mind wants to dwell on the wrongs I’ve done or that have been done to me. Help me to actively look for Your good each day in everyone and everywhere. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Looking For Good

Why should I dwell upon
the wrongs, the bad, the evil
when all it serves to do
is pull me down?

I will look hard for the good
the just, the noble
and rejoice in the One
Who makes it all to be found.

Happy New Year’s Day! 🙂

  1. That is a wonderful post!

“Help me to actively look for Your good each day in everyone and everywhere.”

I have a cousin who is a minister, and he has said “The Lord answers prayers in advance”, and by judging from what I have seen in your posts here and your comments on people’s blogs (including mine)the Lord has in your case done that very thing!

    Happy New Year Deb!

    Love,

    Theresa

  2. Oh what a lovely comment, from such a lovely lady! 🙂 Thank you for that message . . .the Lord answers prayers in advanced. 🙂 This last month I joined a project to intentionally look for joy. It really seems simple, like something I should do anyway, but going through this and really looking each day and remembering those things to write down, made it all the more real. And those bad times less significant. 🙂 love you and the comfort you give through His word!

  3. I spent most of my life imagining myself in worst scenarios and surely some of it came true! For 2 years now I have been trying to think of good things and surely some of it came true! So the challenge is on — on thinking of good, beautiful and fruitful things and the easiet way to do it is to think of God. Yes, it’s still quite challenging at times but the good thing is I’m trying. Did I just say the good thing?

Thanks for this great and beautiful thought, as usual!
    🙂

  4. Oh yes you did say “good thing”! Your adventure is a God thing and so beautiful. It makes me smile and cry all at the same time. And that’s a good thing too! Love you, wonderful good God seeking Rea!

  5. Deb, I love the thought to look for the good in everyone! It’s so easy to just see other people’s faults. I need to remember this one. Your post reminded me of Philippians 4:8 – “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” If we remember to do this it will be a Happy New Year, indeed! Peace, Linda

  6. I love Philippians 4:8 and need it plastered to my forehead. 🙂 Thank you, Linda, for adding that here to help us! Happy Good Thinking New Year!
