Not Far Away

“So when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, ‘You are not far from the Kingdom of God.'” Mark 12:34

For most of us, the idea of kingdoms and royalty seem completely out of reach.

We thank You, Jesus, for a Kingdom so different from the earthly ones and only a prayer away. And here’s a simple poem . . .

His Kingdom Come

Knights in shining armor
well guarded castles, fancy dress
these kingdoms seem mostly interested
in staying separated from the rest

but You welcome us into Your Kingdom
by way of a Prince upon a cross
all You ask is that we love Him
with our all, at any cost.

  1. I always felt that I belong to a very powerful kingdom whose strength comes from its overflowing love! Take for example Princess Deb who never gets tired sending her love to everyone else — lucky me to be one of the recipients of that love!

Merry Christmas Deb to you and your family! Would love to greet and hug your lovely daughter in person and whisper to her that she’s blessed with a very beautiful Mom!

    Celebrate! Celebrate!

  2. Rea . . .Queen of Joy . . .thank you! πŸ™‚ My “baby” turns 19 on Christmas Eve! And her big sis is coming, who we can’t wait to see!!! yipppeee! You have put extra excitement in me for His birthday this year. I can’t thank you enough for that!!!! love, deb

  3. Wow double birthday celebration!
    Merry Merry!

  4. I feel like I’ve wandered into a women’s group. I’ll just quickly say I liked the poem and get out.

Hope you have an enjoyable reunion with your daughter.

  5. You are always welcome Mike! Sorry about that woman thing going on there. ha! Praying you have a special time too, with family, friends . . .with Jesus!

  6. To Debbie and all my brothers and sisters in Christ Lord Jesus. M-E-R-R-Y C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S !!! I don’t plan on being online tomorrow so I wanted to wish you all now with a happy one! God bless you and your families! Merry Christmas!!!

  7. Thank you Kent for the beautiful song and video and the blessed wishes! I am so grateful for you and for our Lord who brings us all together in praise to Him! Merry Christmas!

  8. Deb, I love this poem! His kingdom is so unlike the kingdoms of the world because He does not seek to be separated from us, but to be with us always. Peace and Merry Christmas, Linda

P.S. Birthday wishes to Aubrey, too! πŸ™‚

  9. That was a most beautiful rendition of one of my two favorite Christmas songs! Thank you so much for sharing it! Peace and Merry Christmas, Linda

  10. Hey wait a minute here!!!!! I just caught that Mike.
I am no woman. Sheesh. You better look around a bit more. πŸ˜€
    God bless!

  11. Glad you enjoyed it sister. I love Enya she is always respectable in appearance and has a beautiful singing voice.

  12. God bless you, Linda, for all you do to welcome others to His Kingdom too! You are a very beautiful greeter in His name. and thank you for Aub’s birthday wishes too!

  13. Thank you Deb!

Thanks for reminding us that we are Royalty. The King has come to us. We didn’t even have to go looking for Him!

    Chosen (and loving it!)

  14. Many thanks and Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!

I absolutely love this song. (This is a very beautiful rendition too. I like the clarity of her voice)

  15. Only He would have a Kingdom like this, where servants are blessed and the last becomes the first. πŸ™‚ So thankful for you!

  16. Deb,
What an apt poem to remember the ‘Prince upon a cross’. Christ certainly offers us a place in His kingdom and He loves everyone, not just by race, tribe and goodness. Thank you for this wonderful reminder and I pray that many today receive their citizenship into heaven by the simple prayer.
    In Christ,

  17. So thankful to be His servant, a part of His Kingdom, that is open to everyone who wants His love. πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for all you do for us and for Him!

  18. Deb, I am ever so grateful for you. You are one of the reasons my blog, which almost disappeared forever on it’s 4th day is still here. So I can’t tell you how much it means. I have a dream, and you helped keep the flickering flame alive, as it was just about to be extinguished by some very unexpected trials, by people I never thought would do harm.

And his kingdom? You are right – we Americans (and Canadians) don’t really get kingdoms. But we are members of the same one. I am glad we share citizenship.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  19. Merry Christmas Craig! I’m sooo glad that you hung in there through the trials, that it wasn’t the end, even if it is different than what you had planned. πŸ™‚ I’m so thrilled to be in this all together! πŸ™‚ Hoping your day is blessed!

  20. I wasn’t planning on coming back and typing today but I never thanked you for THIS post you posted so I am thanking you now……thanks.:) I really, really, enjoyed that last bit and I quote; “all You ask is that we love Him with our all, at any cost.”

God bless and Merry Christmas again.

P.S. Do you believe it? It’s been snowing here allllllllllllllllllllll day!!!!!! I am like a little kid here. Whoo hooo!:P

  21. That is so nice of you to come back! πŸ™‚ Happy for your snow . . .if you are! ha! We’ve gotten about 6 in. so far, from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! πŸ™‚ God bless you as you love Him with your all!
