A Heart In Season

“Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry. And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it.
He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.” Mark 11:12-13

Sometimes the demands and expectations can leave me feeling exhausted, dried up . . .bereft of fruit.

When You come to me today, Lord, may You find what You are looking for. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Hungry To See

What are You looking for
when You come to me today,
knowing my circumstances
and constant disarray?
He says, “I’m hungry to see
a heart attitude that’s right,
that would be enough to fill
My Spirit with delight.”

  1. “When You come to me today, Lord, may You find what You are looking for.”

Cool thought. I’ve never thought of it like that before.

  2. Me neither! ha! Guess I usually think of me going to Him looking for something I need . . .hungry and thirsty. πŸ™‚ God bless you and yours, Mike, and may you have a blessed celebration of Jesus!

  3. Deb, Thank you for the reminder of what He is looking for in us, “a heart attitude that’s right.” This reminds me of Psalm 51:10: “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.” It is He who creates the right heart attitude within us. Peace, Linda

  4. My “heart that’s right” – something to take away every time I’m here. I will now smack my heart upside its head and – ok – better now. Merry Christmas Deb.

  5. Deb,
That’s a wonderful reminder especially now that we are celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Cheist. When he inspects me, his interest certainly is in my heart and I can only ask as Linda did, that God creates in me a clean and renewed heart with a loyal spirit. Wish you and your loved ones a Christ-filled Christmas!
    In Christ,

  6. I remember when He told me that is what He wants from me, and I thought okay . . .I can do this! Immediately things happened that showed me it was harder than I thought! ha! Definitely need His help with everything! God bless you!

  7. Merry Christmas Craig! Does Laska get an extra roll of toilet paper for Christmas? πŸ™‚

  8. I’m so glad that He looks for the inside things, and not the outside or material. πŸ™‚ God bless your Christmas time and family!

  9. I’m gonna couple that verse over to ponder. So much to be said for expectations that aren’t appropriate. False hopes. You’ve got me thinking again πŸ™‚

  10. I hope that’s a good thing? πŸ™‚ Inappropriate expectation are the worst! grrrr. ha! Oops . . .better go read that part about a right heart attitude. ha!

  11. Ohhh…

Never thought much of Jesus coming to me either … always about me going to Him 😦

Thanks for this Debbie. I’ll be chewing this along with my Christmas Ham…

Asking Him to check out my attitude,

  12. I can see Him smiling, as He comes to you! πŸ™‚ God bless you, fruitful attitude Ann!

  13. Amen… May He cause you to bear fruit by His Spirit. As it is not by might nor power But by His Spirit. God bless, seasons greetings and loads of love, Rita

  14. Thank you so much for adding that, Rita! Yes, it IS by His Spirit! πŸ™‚ That really takes the pressure off, doesn’t it? God bless you and your beautiful heart for Him!
