The One Thing We Never Lack

“Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, ‘One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow me.'” Mark 10:21

You may know this scripture about the rich young ruler who came to Jesus asking what he needed to do to obtain eternal life. What I had overlooked was the part where Jesus looked at him . . .and loved him.

Thank You, Lord, that the one thing we never lack is Your love of us. And here is a simple poem . . .

The Love Motivator

There is always more to do
a higher level to achieve
so having Your love
is the one thing that bolsters me.
No matter where I’m at
in my ability to obey
Your unconditional love
leads me on each day.

  1. In this uncertain place we call home for now, His love is the one constant. So thankful that HE never changes!

Thanks for your lovely poem. May we always have more than enough to share especially with those who haven’t yet met Love Himself.

A blessing be upon you and your household, Deb. May there always be an over abundance of love, joy and peace in your home.

    Loved and highly favoured!

  2. You make a very good point here. Sometimes people just look at the orders and commandments and forget to think about the love that inspires rule for children. And, aren’t we all eternally children?

  3. Deb, I had never really noticed that part of this verse, either! Thank you for focusing on it and on Jesus’ love for all of us. Where would we be without His amazing love? Peace, Linda

  4. “No matter where I’m at
    in my ability to obey
    Your unconditional love
    leads me on each day.”

Praise the Lord! My heart rejoices as I read these words. God Bless you, Deb!

  5. Oh yes we are, Jessie. Sometimes I touch on something, but love how you and others uncover more! Thank you soooo much!

  6. Like Jessie said, if it was all rules and no love, we would be lost. God bless you, one who is amazingly loved! πŸ™‚

  7. His unconditional love makes it all possible! πŸ™‚ Rejoicing with you over Him today! Joy!

  8. Deb,
Why have I never seen those words? WOW! Jesus certainly loves us regardless of how unlovable we are. It is sad that the rich young ruler never received God’s love because of the love that motivated and inspired him. I pray with you that we would always be ‘bolstered’ ahead to do more because of His love for us. Thanks for the wonderful and refreshing reminder.
    In Christ,

  9. Oh loved and highly favored one . . .thank you for the beautiful prayers that just seem to pour out of you for us all! πŸ™‚

  10. So thankful, like you, for that unconditional love that keeps on urging us to Him. πŸ™‚ Merry Christmas, Vineet! Wishing you and yours a blessed time together!

  11. Thanks for pointing that out, Deb! I didn’t consider that point before; but, yes, He looks at the man and loves. How comforting, and liberating, it is to know that He is with us, no matter what! Thank you for these words!

  12. I does liberate us, doesn’t it? I didn’t think of that, but when we know He loves us from the get go, it frees us to go for it too! Thank you for your encouraging comments. You bless me!

  13. God

Thanks Deb for the reminder that there is no lack in God — won’t run out. Your love reached mine, thanks!

  14. Oh Rea . . .that was beautiful and profound . . .like you! Thank you for reaching out to me tonight!
