There Are Many

“Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi’s house that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many and they followed Him.” Mark 2:15

I’m one of those many sinners that followed Him.

Oh Lord, help me not to build pretenses, cliques and barriers that would keep anyone from following You. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Keeping A Path Cleared

I’m a simple sinner
following the Sinless Son
I’m flawed and weak
You are the perfect One.
May I never elevate myself
and unwittingly block the view
that would keep someone from coming
straight on after You.

  1. I am a sinner too.
Isn’t it a sin to hate,to be bitter?
I hate because I am hurt.
I am bitter because I sin because of hatred because I am hurt. See I am even making an excuse on what to blame for my sin! I have been trying to forgive and most of the times I thought I succeeded only to find out from time to time that the sin is still inside. Supposedly I had given them all to Him already but if they keep on popping then I haven’t actually, right? That I have little faith? If that’s the reason then I should not let go of Him and maybe eventually I can let go of that sin.

Why oh why I have to spare time for those sins when there are so many wonderful things to focus on. Yay I’m starting to talk to myself again!
    🙂

  2. Been here a couple of minutes wanting to add my 2 cents, but it’s really good just the way it is.

  3. This is one of my favorites deb.

    Like the above person.

    Can’t add a thing.

    God Bless

  4. Deb, Me, too. That’s all I have to add. 🙂 Peace, Linda

  5. Sweet one . . .I have been hurt too, and I know that bitterness and resentfulness. sigh. I too have thought I had forgiven and then had these flare-ups. You are loved and each time you do forgive, it’s real. I’ve found that I have to walk in forgiveness daily. Okay, sometimes moment by moment. As soon as I realize that the bitterness is coming on, I ask for forgiveness from Jesus and ask Him to help me forgive like He forgives me. God loves you and He is for you. He knows how hard this is and He will never leave you. You are precious! love you!

  6. Thank you for being here, for supporting me, for glorifying Jesus! 🙂

  7. Thank you Craig! I’m so glad that you understand, and that He understands us all!

  8. God bless you, Linda, and surround you in His peace today!

  9. Deb, this is a beautiful post…what a precious prayer!

    Rea,

Please do not despair! I wrote something about being found. You are loved! 🙂

  10. Thanks Theresa for coming to the rescue! We need you and I can’t wait to read your post! love, deb

  11. Thanks Deb

Your poem reminds me of an old song “may all those who come behind us find us faithful” … How awful it would be for me if I were to block someone else’s view of Christ by letting ‘me’ stand in the way!

For certain, He’s the only flawless one. As I look toward Him, I pray I will become more like Him and that those who look at me will see Christ in me and want to become more like Him

I am flawed and must crucify self daily. So blessed to be a part of the family of the loving, forgiving Lord.

Thanks for your prayers, Deb. I so pray.

    Blessings,
    ann

  12. I remember that song, Ann! Thank you! There was something that grabbed me in that verse, how the sinners all followed Jesus and wanted to be with Him. I don’t want to ever take away from that aspect of Him. And pray that the church as a whole doesn’t either. 🙂 You are a blessing!

  13. Oh, the truth to that! I pray, too, that I don’t keep others from seeing His glory! Thank you for your words.

  14. Thanks, Eric, for the encouragement and the Truth you share! God bless you!
