“No man of the descendants of Aaron the priest, who has a defect, shall come near to offer the offerings made by fire to the Lord. He has a defect; he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God.
He may eat the bread of his God, both the most holy and the holy;
only he shall not go near the veil or approach the altar, because he has a defect. . .” Leviticus 21:21-23

No one wants defective goods . . .except God.

Thank You Jesus, for being without defect for us, able to draw near and tear the veil, to be our sacrifice on the altar and our Most Holy daily bread. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Holy Recall

Full of defects
from head to heart to toe
often passed over
and rightly so
until that day
I knelt before His throne
and heard, “Redeemed”
“Beloved . . .My very own.”

God sees you today and loves you truly!

  1. whoa!
Somebody loves me so much to own me
    — defective yet not rejected!
Deb you know this post mean so much to me
    so here’s my great thanks!

  2. Halleluyall…what a deal — for all! : o )

  3. “Holy Recall”…This makes me really glad. πŸ™‚

  4. Deb- I have been reading through your posts, and checking in on your friend. I keep their family in my thoughts. I was sorry to hear about your own situation and hope for your family all that is wonderful! My heart goes out to anyone that has to endure pain, as I did with my daughter.

I know it is hard to see the gravel at the end of a road at times, but it does keep coming with each turn or obvious path we have to take. Often I find bitterness and sadness mixed together in my days, and I strive to continue the walk. I am thankful he has given me a strong heart of love for all.

*virtual hugs and prayers to you*

    Chef E

  5. Deb, β€œRedeemed” β€œBeloved . . .My very own.” Thanks for passing on these words from God today! They are wonderful to hear. Peace, Linda

  6. Seriously now Deb – a diamond practically every time I read.

“No one wants defective goods . . .except God.”

He is that nice. He is that nice.

    God. Is. Nice.

And for the person who left the first comment “defective not rejected” that is heart-stopping.

    God Bless Deb

  7. Oh wow!!!!

Deb, I thank God for you and for the ministry He has blessed you with. I give Him thanks for the ‘simple’ way you explain the deep truths of salvation. I am so blessed to live in a day and age where this kind of ministry is available. God bless you!!

I’ve messed up over and over again but instead of tossing me, He picks me up, cleanses me and sets me right again. “Halleluja! What a Saviour!” indeed πŸ™‚

  17. I cant help it Deb, but I am going to post this here cause this fits so well

  18. Chef E, I know you know this sister but I am speaking to to the world in a witnessing mode when I say this:
Going through hard times is what builds his children up. We are meant to be the light of the world and as we walk we become more like our master(Lord Jesus Christ). To be more Christ like It takes a beating sometimes for our own good but he implements it.Though most mite not yet understand, and those who can relate to me on this note I say; thank you mighty just GREAT God for making me more like you even when it requires a good beating to do the job right.

    God bless.
p.s. Yes Deb it is my other mailing address.(I don’t know if you got what I meant by this or not)

  19. I do understand what you mean, Kent! We don’t always appreciate those times at the moment, but they do a lasting work in us for Him. :)God bless you and thank you for commenting! I know you said once that you don’t like to type . . .here you sacrificed for us! Have a great Thanksgiving!

  20. Kent! Thank you sooooo much for adding Amy’s song! I love that song and it goes perfectly here. πŸ™‚ What a blessing you are!

  21. I watched a natgeo documentary last night called “inside Mecca” it never ceases to fascinate me that three major religions stem from monotheism with slight variations and yet with a respect as well for Abraham. Fascinatjg stuff!

  22. Jessie . . .YOU fascinate me! πŸ™‚ You are suppose to be taking some time off, but here you are! Thank you for taking the time to read and comment and bless me! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! (we can eat turkey, right? ;))

  23. Hi Deb
First off, Happy Thanksgiving although I suspect you might see this only after. I do hope you are having a wonderful break with your loved ones I pray all God’s blessings on you as you give Him thanks together for His amazing goodness.
This poem today is the cream of the crop of all that I’ve read in months because of how powerfully it speaks of the truth of the gospel. Everytime I come before God in worship, I am in tears knowing how defective I am and I am then so enveloped in His love for me that I realize how blessed I am to be called ‘redeemed’ and ‘sanctified’ not because of anything in me but because of Jesus, my master, Lord and Savior. Your poem is going on my dashboard to always remind me of this. Thank you and God bless you richly for your ministry of His word in poetry!!!
    In Him,

  24. Thank you for the Thanksgiving blessings Vineet! And for coming by. I know its hard for you to do and that makes your comments all the more precious!
I’m glad that poem had special meaning for you. We never know when we write how it will turn out or who it will be for. But God knows! So glad that you are safe in Jesus today!

  25. […] you feeling a bit down today then read this short blog post at Deb’s blog.<—click […]

  26. Thank you so much, for caring and sharing. God has a wonderful way of working in our lives and blogs! Hope your Thanksgiving was blessed!

  27. Strange that I never got your reply and I must check my mailbox. Hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving and I pray God continues to use you to share the gospel in poetry with those who are seeking a messiah.
    In Him,

  28. I really like this. (had to come back and say it!)

If I had to vote for your poem of the year I’d choose this (today. Tomorrow, I’d choose another – they’re all beautiful πŸ˜‰ )

  29. You are so kind! Smiling because you are here and you are His! Tonight I was having connectivity issues and thought of you! ha! At least we are always connected to Him and each other, even when computers and internet fail us!
