Eaten Away

“Then the priest shall look at the plague after it has been washed; and indeed if the plague has not changed its color, though the plague has not spread, it is unclean, and you shall burn it in the fire; it continues eating away whether the damage is outside or inside.” Leviticus 13:55

I’ve tried to wash away “plagues” by myself. It never works for me.

Jesus, help me run to You with everything, whether it is visible to anyone else or not. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Inside Damage

What is this plague
that eats at me
– consuming my thoughts
– and activities
keeping me from all
You want me to be. . .
– time to be cleansed
– and set free.

  1. You read my thoughts
that an inside job I sought?
    I need to be free.
Not a trace of bitterness in me.

    Thanks Deb for the poem.
    It echoes in my soul.

  2. Another good one. I am starting to believe we ‘are’ set free; it’s just that our enemy tries to convince us that we are not.

Someone commented about a ‘monday release date’. Would that be a book? There is sure a lot of your stuff that needs to be in one. You have a good way of expressing what is in your heart – what the Lord shows you as you wait before Him.

As I wrote that last line, I thoght of one of my poems – ‘When Each Does Their Part’. At least for now, that is the ‘part’ He is giving you.

If it is a book, I want one. If it isn’t . . . you need to do one.

  3. God bless you, Mike. I really like how you see things, how the enemy tricks us. You have a very special gift that way . . .discernment. 🙂
Sorry, no book from me. And honestly, for some reason I just don’t think I’m suppose to go there with this. I would love to do little mini ones to give to people for free, for gifts. You know, just homemade ones.
The release day was about Craig’s new blogs that he’s started. 🙂 They will begin on Monday and I want to cheer him on.
Hope you have a great weekend, with your family and Jesus!

  4. As sweet as you are, and Jesus is, any bitterness won’t stand a chance! You’ll see. One day you will realize its just gone. 🙂 God bless you! Hugs!

  5. Deb, I love this poem! It’s a great reminder that Jesus sets us free from that which consumes our thoughts and activities so that we can eagerly serve Him. Peace, Linda

  6. I remember mowing the yard years ago.
Thats it, just mowing the yard ,not cursing people and things and feeling sorry for myself just mowing the yard – not necessarily thinking of anything .It was only after I finished and put the mower away that I realized I had indeed been “set free”. A simple thing but a powerful thing in my life.
    thanks Deb

  7. I can understand just wanting to give away as gifts. I’ve had a little success with that, but some people just won’t stand for it. 🙂

Seriously though, that is what I want to do from here on out. I’ve got another one ready – ‘A New Set of Cravings’ – and about 3/4 the way through with ‘Lost Wonder’. I really would like, when and if I get them published, to just give them as gifts. Your’s would make a great gift.

I’ve intended to go back and look for one you wrote. It’s my favorite. I remember my reply was something to the effect of not knowing anything to add to it. I wanted to go find it and save it. If you remember which one it is, let me know. If not, I’ll have time and look for it one day.

    Take care,

  8. MIke! You have been so busy. You bless me just hearing about them! WOW! I remember that comment from you and will try to find it. 🙂 I think it was my favorite comment! 🙂 Not so sure about the post. ha!

  9. Oh yes He does! I look back and can see how He has led me away from thoughts that I didn’t want to have! So faithful! And I’m so thankful to be free to think more about Him. God bless you Linda! 🙂

  10. I loved hearing this! Yes! We don’t always realize exactly when it happens . . .but it does. I’m all smiles! 🙂 Thanks so much for commenting! I want to read more at your site!

  11. When there is an upside,
    It starts on the inside
    To get our outside
    From being a dowside.

  12. What a wonderful insight and teaching poem, all in one! You have so much wisdom to share with us . . .thanks for doing that today! 🙂

  13. Great post (as always Deb)

These comments also offer much to consider. If the plague is not washed away, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride! I don’t like the ‘do overs’ … I’ll wait for Him to wash me. Fully wash me.

I don’t want anything eating away or eaten want. I want to be clean before Him. I echo your prayers.

  14. I’m with you, Ann. It’s always one way I can tell if I’ve given something to Him . . .if it continues to eat at me, consuming my thought life. A plague of the brain! I love how He does what He does, so that those kind of plagues can be halted and we can be free and clean from them! 🙂 God bless you! Thanks so much for your faith-filled comments that strengthen me!

  15. lol. Deb, I meant to write “I don’t want anything eating away or eaten away”. (typing faster than I think?);-)

Seriously though, this is some heavy stuff. If He stops the infection we’re well our way! We continue to encourage each other in His word.

    In Christ,

  16. I knew what you meant Ann . . .it’s okay! And I do that all the time, only when I’m talking. ! haha! I get some strange looks. 🙂 love in Him, deb
