“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29
Jesus calls all those who are already laboring and heavy laden to come take His yoke. I hear myself start to whine . . .”But I’m tiiiirrrreeeedddd.”
We thank You that there’s a rest for our souls in laboring for You, Jesus, that nothing can disturb. And here’s a simple poem . . .
No Retirement Plans
My mind may spin logistical
my body soon complain
but there’s a rest within my soul
each time I lift Your name.
Oh, I may need to sleep deep
and take a break now and then
but I never want to remove the yoke
from this lowly- hearted Son of Man.
Oh my goodness! we both wrote about the same thing today! 🙂 My post was inspired by bendedspoons post about mastering self. After I read hers I immediately wrote mine, and then I went visiting other blogs, and saved yours for last. I just love this post, too. The poem is great. Nope, we musn’t retire from the “easy yoke”. 🙂
Love, Theresa
