An Inheritance

“Then he said, ‘If now I have found grace in Your sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray, go among us even though we are a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sins, and take us as Your inheritance.'”Β  Exodus 34:9

We may leave an inheritance or receive an inheritance, but Moses asked to be an inheritance.

Lord Jesus, I ask too, to be an inheritance of Your mercy and grace, passed on to the next generation.Β  Here’s a simple poem . . .

Lavish Living

How grateful I am to be an heir
of Your Holy Kingdom
thankful that through You alone
I am welcomed there

yet I don’t want to get caught up
in all I am receiving
but choose instead to lavish it on
everyone I can.

  1. Me too.

  2. what a compelling nothing to ask to be an inheritance! you always get me thinking πŸ™‚

  3. i will put holes in my Jar Of Blessings
that the blessings may leak to other beings

  4. πŸ™‚ You already are!

  5. I don’t know how you can think much more than you are! Thanks for somehow managing to comment! πŸ™‚

  6. You are already a blessing, spreading near and far! πŸ™‚

  7. Deb, I love your poetic interpretation of this passage from Exodus. And I love Moses’ prayer and confession that they are a “stiff-necked people.” I often feel that is an accurate description of me, though less so of late. I am becoming more prone to lavish the grace I have been given as an inheritance on others. Peace, Linda

  8. I do take some different interpretations, don’t I? ha! Hope He doesn’t mind! Thinking about stiff-necks, how they make it hard for me to look around . . .to look at Jesus. God bless you today as you spread His grace and love! πŸ™‚

  9. Deb, I am certain He does not mind but is pleased and blessed by how you encourage us all with your poems and sharing of His Word. Peace, Linda
