“And you shall set the showbread on the table before  Me always.”  Exodus 25:30

Showbread in Hebrew translates to Bread of the Presence or “presence bread”.  God instructs a special table to be made that holds the showbread.  Each sabbath new bread would be brought in to replace the old.

O Lord, make my life into a table that displays Your glory and presence . . . You being My daily bread.  And here’s a simple poem .

Bread of the Presence

Some bread arrives in bags
with an expiration date
but ours rises from His presence
and fully fills our plates
while He sits with the Father
in a perpetual Holy state
and yet remains here with us
should we care to come partake.

  1. I love this! Simple, but deep and true. I’ll be back!

  2. I’m glad you liked it! I tried to comment at your blog, but had trouble. 😦 Very good advice there though! God bless you!

  3. That was really good. I love to think about all of the ways the word “bread” is used in both the old and new testaments. It is amazing how they really are connected. Isn’t it wonderful that our Savior has no expiration date? 🙂

  4. Now it’s me being kind of silly? ha! But it is wonderful all the same! God bless you!

  5. May His presence be our daily bread and the substance of our being :). May we eat of it everyday and be blessed…

  6. What a beautiful comment! Thank you so much for adding that!
