Where Would I Go?

“But if the servant plainly says, “I love my Master . . .I will not go out free . . .” he shall serve him forever.”  Exodus 21:5

When my daughters were very young, we found a baby robin after a bad storm.  The oldest painstakingly cared for this little bird named Stormy.  Long after it could fly, it stayed on the porch waiting for her to feed it and to play with her in the sprinkler.

Jesus, I love You!  There is no where else I’d rather be than with You. And here’s a simple poem. . .

free to stay

thank You
for setting me free
so that i
can stay

and lovingly
serve You
all of these
my days.

  1. What a great story!

    That’s it exactly!!!

  2. I didn’t think about how it might relate to your storm series, but I guess it does. 🙂 I need to get back and read more with you . . .just want to get my box of tissues handy! Thank you for all you do for Him and us!

  3. Deb, Jim wrote a post about the bondservant that comes from this passage in Exodus. I love your robin illustration of this concept. And the simple poem, of course, tops it all off. Thanks for reminding me again how happy I am to be a bondservant of Christ Jesus. Peace, Linda

  4. I remember that, Linda! I was thinking as I read it, that I was coming up to it and would be doing something on it too. And once you left a comment to a post of similar content, about the bond servant. Hope you are doing great! 🙂 Happy to be serving with you!

  5. I love that story of the Robin. So Sweet!

  6. We tried the baby bird thing other times too, but this was the most successful and memorable time. 🙂 I even have a few pictures of the girls with the little robin, in the sprinkler.

  7. Debbie: Plenty there to keep Kleenex in business. 😉

  8. Beautiful, Deb, I love this!

“Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.” (John 6:67-68)

  9. Loren, that’s the perfect scripture to go with this! Thank you for adding that! 🙂
