In His Presence

“Now the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near. . .”  Exodus 20:21

As God gave the ten commandments, the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking. (Exodus 20:18)  They were more than a little scared.

Thank You, Father, for the salvation You have wrought for us through Jesus Christ Your Son, so that we can all come near to you . . .and live.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Familiar Fears

I come so easily
so continually to You
asking for Your help
trusting You’ll see me through.

May I not grow so familiar
that I lose my awe and fear
of just how great is the One
who calls me to be near.

  1. Deb, I really like this poem! I especially love the 2nd stanza. I hope I never lose my awe and fear (or reverance) for our Almighty God! Peace, Linda

  3. It’s tricky, isn’t it? What a tremendous thing that we can come to Him . . .but then, how exactly do I do that? With a “hey, what’s up?” attitude? yikes! Thanks Linda, for helping me to come to Him with the awe He deserves! deb

  4. Love, Love, Love this part…
May I not grow so familiar
that I lose my awe and fear
of just how great is the One
who calls me to be near.

Oh LORD, you know that is my hearts cry… keep me safe and hedged in your breathtaking love.

  5. I love your hearts cry to Him . . .and your heart! 🙂 Thank you for helping us stay in awe of Him!

  6. Very well said. There are around 100,000 modern day evangelists on the internet trying to create the creator. I was in the awesome presence of God in a mighty way twice today in church service, and once again as I visited the stillness and reverence demonstrated in your post. He is an unchanging God.

  7. I’m very, very grateful for your comment. Kind of teary. I can feel pretty inadequate doing these posts. I have no credentials! Then comes a comment like yours, out of the blue, and i thank Him and ask Him to help me some more. God bless you!
