A Lasting Work

“But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.”  Exodus 7:13

I like to do work that I see immediate results from.  Things like cleaning, cooking, mowing, painting, laundry.  Even writing. It always needs re-done though.  It’s not a lasting work.

Father, lead me to the harder work, where the results often remain unseen . . .to pray, intercede and submit my heart to You daily.  This is the lasting work of You.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us in our unseen work for Jesus.

Aaron’s staff
became a snake and
Pharaoh’s sorcerers claimed
they could do the same.

But only Aaron
picked up his rod,
full of the work
of their gods.

  1. Deb,
what a great example of God’s power, and your passion for doing work that lasts. Everything I do is but for a season, when my season is past it will be someone else’s season, but God’s word and work done for His kingdom will endure throughout eternity. God Bless sister

  2. I liked the part about our work being for a season and then being someone else’s work to do. Puts things in the right perspective, with His work being eternal! 🙂 Thank you so much for that! 🙂 God bless you too! deb

  3. Deb,

I love what you said about work that lasts…Everything that involves heaven is for eternity…The results are permanent..though our work is for a season. God might use me to plant, you to water…but its Him who makes it grow…and the outcome is permanent in Heaven..

    God Bless,

  4. It’s wonderful to know that there is One whose work is permanent! 🙂 Blessings for your day!
