After Joseph and his brothers passed away, a new ruler came over Egypt who didn’t know about the children of Israel. And so he said, “Come let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply and . . .join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land.” (Exodus 1:10) So he set taskmasters over them to afflict them. But, still the children of Israel flourished.
Jesus, we thank You for Your wisdom today, through which affliction and oppression only serve to grow us and Your Kingdom.
Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to trust in the wisdom of Jesus during tough times.
Wisdoms
There is a wisdom
that seeks its own
wise in the eyes
of those who hold it,
unlike the wisdom
born of Christ
that we can’t find in the mind
of mortal man.
“But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew.” Exodus 1:12
Dear Deb,
As always, very good point. I have always thought, without adversity there is no opportunity for a miracle. Our world has determined that when things are going smoothly, God is not needed. God Bless
Jim
Deb,
Oh yes…the plan and purpose of God over His people cannot be thwarted by evil nor affliction. What a revelation. Lord…increase us even in affliction! Amen.
Thank you…I needed this reminder!
Love and hugs,
Galdwell
Deb, I am thankful that in the useless wisdom that he possesses, Satan has not figured out that affliction and adversity serve to strengthen and grow God’s people and cause them to rely on Him alone. Peace, Linda
