A Present Tense God

“The LORD opens the eyes of the
blind
The LORD raises those who are
bowed down;
The LORD loves the righteous.
The LORD watches over the
strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow . . .”  Psalm 146:8-9

I really loved all the present tense verbs used in this portion of scripture.

Thank You, Lord, for all You are doing right now, for so many.  And here is a simple poem . . .

His Goodness On Display

I see Your goodness to me
like the first star in the sky

I am blessed and humbled
then You ask me to multiply

my experience times a billion
of peopled Milky Ways

to imagine Your lovingkindness
spread out on display.

Cause Me To Know

“Cause me to hear Your
lovingkindness in the morning,
For in You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way in
which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to You.”  Psalm 143:8

I am noting that David doesn’t say “cause me to see You, Lord”, in this portion of scripture.

Lord, please help me to exercise my faith – to hear You and know You even when I’m not seeing what I want to see.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Relying On Him

Cause me to hear You
when I can’t see

cause me to know the way
You have for me

let me not rely
only on sight

but trust in You
my Lord, my Delight.

The Walking Way

“Blessed is every one who fears the
LORD,
Who walks in His ways.”  Psalm 128:1

The girls and I would take a challenging trail through a local park that led us up and down a ravine, crisscrossing the creek at the bottom on strategically placed stones.

Lord, thank You  for being the Way for us to walk in.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

The Way Home

We’ve learned Your ways
are not our ways

Your thoughts
are not our own

yet You lead us
and guide us

all the way
home.

Our Keeper

“He who keeps you will not slumber.”  Psalm 121:3

I have dreams sometimes, where I need to be awake, but am so tired I can’t get up.

Lord, thank You for never sleeping – for always keeping us -  by day and by night.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Your Work

When I feel weary
and powerless to help

when I’ve done all
I know to do

You lift my eyes
and remind me

this is Your work
and You’re not through.

Walking It Out

“I will walk within my house with a
perfect heart.”  Psalm 101:2

Those within our household know us best.

Lord, may I walk with You, my Perfect One, today.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Step by Step

You’ve given me Your Spirit
You’ve given me grace

now it’s up to me
to walk out my faith

knowing others are affected
by the steps I take

I lean on You, Jesus
each and every day.

At The Waters Of Meribah

“You called in trouble, and I
delivered you;
I answered you in the secret place
of thunder;
I proved you at the waters of Meribah.”  Psalms 81:7

God is always working . . .even in the hard places.

Lord, I desire to listen for You and have faith more and more and more.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

I have heard of
your great trouble

and I will deliver
you in time

listen for Me
in the thunder

know in the desert
you are Mine.

Magnified

“And let those who love Your
salvation say continually,
‘Let God be magnified.’ “  Psalms 70:4

I use a magnifying glass often, to make things bigger . . . so I can see them.

Lord, please help me see how big You truly are.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

all that
I feel
and everything
I see.

When Swallowed Up

“Let not the floodwater overflow me,
Nor let the deep swallow me up;
And let not the pit shut it’s mouth on me.”  Psalms 69:15

There must have been so many times when David thought he was going down for the last time.

Lord, when circumstances are getting the best of me, help me remember that today I am saved.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

The Truth

When the water has risen
up past my neck

and the pit doesn’t have
an opening left

may I remember
Your lovingkindness

and the truth
of Your salvation.

Rejoicing In The Middle

“He turned the sea into dry land;
They went through the river on foot.
There we will rejoice in Him.”  Psalms 66:6

How many of us are in the middle of the river, on foot, right now?

Oh Lord, we desire to rejoice in You right now, before we even know what the outcome will be.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

We’re There

ohealerhealthyself.blogspot.com

How did it feel there
between the walls of water
walking on the sea’s bottom
following the way He’d made?

Let us rejoice now
in the middle of the miracle
that happens each time
we trust Him and obey.

Preserve Me From Fear

“Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.”  Psalms 64:1

I noticed that David didn’t ask to be preserved from the enemy.

Lord, preserve us from our fears today. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Preserve Us

Preserve us from
fear today, Lord

from  false evidence
appearing real

that we may walk
by faith in You, Lord

and not by how
we may feel.
