Doing Good

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”   Galatians 6:10

It’s fun to do good in general, but it brings me a special joy to be able to do something good for a fellow believer.

Lord, thank You for those opportunities to do good, and for placing the “good” in us that we do.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Extra Joy

So fun to surprise
with a good deed
to even do it
anonymously
and when it’s for someone
who also believes
His love spreads ever
more joyously.

Liberty

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”  Galatians 5:1

My youngest likes to dress up plastic horses.  Sometimes I’m not sure if I’ll manage to get them undone again.

Lord, please come and undo me once again from what I’ve gotten tangled in.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Please Undo Me

I stand
like Lady Liberty
awash
in His mercy
arms raised
to the One who frees
who knows
how to undo me.

Received As Angels

“And my trial which was in my flesh you did not despise or reject, but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.”  Galatians 4:14

I am continuously amazed by those under going trials, yet bearing such an intense praise and worship for Jesus.

Thank You, Lord, for Your angels who despite trials in their flesh, minister to us in Your name so beautifully.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Suffering Saints

While bodies undergo
pain and distress
minds and hearts focus
on their beloved Jesus
ministering to us
in Your Holy name
suffering saints
bringing You glory and fame.

Sons Through Faith

“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”  Galatians 3:26

Being sons and daughters of God denotes a valued and close relationship.

Lord,  may we live out our lives as Your children, much loved and delighted in.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Living As Beloved

Lord let us live out
this wonderful truth

that we are beloved
and treasured by You

that Your heart has room for
more to be as we are

Your arms stretching out
both near to us and far.

 

Seeming To Be Something

“But from those who seemed to be something – whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to no man – for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me.”  Galatians 2:6

I’ve found that whenever I’ve seemed to be something, I’m the one who gets added to.

Lord, may all I seek to add to someone’s life be “yes” and “amen” to what You have placed there.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

A Math Problem

What can we add
to someone in Christ

someone blood bought
Spirit-filled, justified

someone sold out
in love with their King

not one itty
bitty thing.

They Glorified God

“But they were hearing only, ‘He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy’.”
“And they glorified God in me.”  Galatians 1:23-24

Those in Christ glorified God.  They knew Paul didn’t change by going to the gym and reading the latest self-help book.

Lord, we thank, praise, worship and glorify You, the One who makes all the difference in our lives.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Re-done

I check the mirror
because I don’t feel the same

You’ve brought about in me
an everlasting change

my heart, mind and soul
taken apart and re-done

all for the glory
of Christ the Risen Son.
