“I lie awake,
And am like a sparrow alone on the
housetop.” Psalm 102:7
God knows about each sparrow.
Lord, please help me not to be discouraged when I must wait to hear from You. And here’s a simple poem . . .
Yearning
Laying awake at night
wanting to hear
Your voice
to feel Your presence
and if I don’t it doesn’t mean
that Your not near
just that I need to trust
and in faith persevere.

O I smiled as I got the notification of your post!
… reading it I know why!
Thank you for this … I was just pondering on the matter of waiting on The Lord for his voice
God bless you, beautiful one, as you wait and trust. I know you are going to hear from Him soon!
So blessed to see you here!
Oh Sweet Sis–He certainly does know each sparrow, and I’ve no doubt He sits up with the ones who can’t sleep. On my rare nights like that, He usually tells me, “it’s okay to go to sleep–we’ll deal with it together in the morning”. And then I’m out. God bless you and lull you to sleep, and give you a special Wednesday!–much love from your sis
I love you Sis, and your oh so special relationship with Jesus! You bless us with that grace and joy of knowing Him intimately! Thank you so much! Love you and God bless you and hug you tight today!
Hallelujah! I’m so glad to know that He is near, even in the silent times. It blesses me just knowing that He loves us with an everlasting love, and that He will never leave me nor forsake me, and yes, He wants me to learn to trust Him in the quiet times.
Thanks for the reminder, Deb and my the Lord bless you and keep you!
Love,
Cheryl
Thank you, dear Cheryl, for sharing how He loves us with an everlasting love, and will never leave us nor forsake us! Love you and God bless you as you feel Him near today!
I am in one of these seasons right now when the voice of God is distant. I know it won’t stay this way, but when in it, it gets old. And lonely. Thanks for encouragement Deb.
Pastor Bill, I was in that same place recently too. After one hour , it gets old and lonely! God bless you as you know He is waiting for a reason and is about to bring you something you need to hear very soon.
oh…this is beautiful…amen.:) what a wonderful blog: it’s so refreshing to see one where I can feel spiritually holier instead of more…well…worldly.:)
Thank you for being here, blessing and encouraging! God bless you, dear one, as you listen for Him today! I’m pretty sure He is saying He loves you lots!!!
He is with us… Emmanuel … in every minute of the day … all around us … Thank you for reminding me today
I love the fact that He is with us every minute of the day! Thank you for sharing with us, Heidi! God bless you and yours today!
Learning to trust is the key! Those waiting times can feel lonely and frightening and in those times we must stand on the truth of the Word that “He will never leave us nor forsake us” though everything within us may tell us otherwise.
Thank you, Pastor J, for encouraging us as we wait during silent times! I love what you said about everything within us telling us that He has left us, but that not being true! God bless you always!
Reblogged this on In Love With The Lord Poetry and Prose and commented:
I so badly needed this today. Must reblog for I am not alone . . .
Thinking about you and praying too, Martha . .God bless you and thank you for the reblog!
His eyes is on the sparrow. To God be the Glory
Amen, Desiray and God bless you!
Another encouraging word form you today Debbie. How comforting it is to know that the Lord knows every need that a sparrow may have. If He is aware of the needs of the sparrow, how much more does He know the needs of those that He died for!
Oh yes, Pastor Rob . ..the needs of those that He died for . .what a meaningful way to put it! Thank you so much, for sharing here and God bless you today!
I love anything that has anything to do with being His sparrow. I love the thought of being the tiny little helpless bird and knowing my Big God takes care of me. Spread your wings Deb and continue to fly in His love.
I love you loving the thought of being the tiny helpless bird . .relying on your Big God! You are such a blessing and a praise to Him! God bless you as He cares about your every need.
God put this in my path today and all praises to God! Thanks Deb
Blessed that He knows what we need to read and hear each day, poet friend! God bless you as you feel His nearness today!
Reblogged this on My Delight and My Counsellors.
Thank you and God bless you!
lovely poem
God bless you, Terry, and your Al!
Debbie, your thoughts are just like those of the Psalms, waiting, longing, knowing you will here, expressing how hard it is to wait, but that the Lord has heard you and will speak to you. This is really a mirror of the Psalms, dear writer! May you hear His blessed Words!
Thank you for your beautiful heart and the way you encourage us, Maria! God bless you as you wait and hear from Him too, leading you on in your writing journey!
Thank you, Debbie! Blessed rest tonight!
“And if I don’t it doesn’t mean that you’re not near”… Reminds me of holding a sleeping baby… Just because they’ve lost consciousness of my arms doesn’t mean I’m no longer there…
. Sometimes when we can’t feel Him is when He is closest. Beautiful poem… Again! God bless you!
Thank you for such a great analogy, Ali! I loved the encouragement in your comment, that when we can’t feel Him is when He is closest .. so beautiful! God bless you too!
We sparrows don’t soar much, but we chirp a lot.
Great poem. Snakes can live 25 or 30 years…just thought this was interesting.
Love that, Mr. Larry, that us sparrows can do some chirping! You bet we can!
God bless you as you keep before Him always!
And I know, I know . .what did I get myself into with the snake! haha! I actually read that the particular breed that we have, can live 40 years. Sturdy little things.
Deb this is just perfect for a friend of mine today – passing it along x
I’m so glad, sweet Aimee, that it might help someone! Love you and God bless you as you hear from Him today!
Ah, the infernal ‘wait’. It is there, in the waiting places, that real faith is forged. If you can hold on to promises as certain when you haven’t seen them yet, you are a true child of Abraham…
What a great insight, teacher Melody! That the waiting places are where real faith is forged. . .Thank you! God bless you, true child of His!
Did you write this for me, Deb!
It’s been one of those trying weeks! Great post!
God Bless you mightily!
Yes I did, Lady Dei . .for you and me both! Thinking of you and praying with you tonight, for His presence and voice to comfort and lift you up! God bless you!
There is so much about this post that I appreciate. I like the picture. I just love to watch birds. I am glad you talked about God knowing about each sparrow. It reminded me of the verse about not a sparrow falls without His knowledge. Then there is the beautiful poem…such wonderful truth there.
One of my favorite songs is “His Eye Is On The Sparrow”.
Here is a verse that expresses the same thought as in your poem:
“Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.”
And here is a beautiful video. Love you, Deb!

Wonderful woman of the Word . ..thank you so so much for taking the time here to minister to me and bless me .. .and for leaving me this beautiful song too!
God bless you as He watches over you today! Love you!

Thank you so so much, Betty! I appreciate you thinking about me like this! I just never got into doing the awards, so I pray you aren’t offended or hurt in anyway! Thanks again and God bless you!
Debbie, I love these words in your poem! God is not our servant, and it bothers me when someone is annoyed that He does not answer according to their timetable… There is only one LORD and it ain’t any of us!
Blessings ~ Wendy
Your comment made me smile so much, wise Wendy! Thank you and God bless you for knowing Him as Lord!
Very true, and heart felt…
thanks Deb
\o/ Praise God
Thank you, Paul and God bless you!
Thank you for more words of encouragement from the Lord via you. You are a blessing to many.
Sometimes we do feel alone and we need to know the REALITY of never being alone. The omnipotent, creator God will NEVER leave us alone and He desires the very, very best for us. He WILL undertake in any situation and He will use it to “grow” us.
What an incredibly amazing God!
Thank YOU, mentor Angela, for your steady and sure faith . .that encourages us through the quiet times! God bless you as He uses you to grow us!
