Under His Shadow

“He who dwells in the secret place of
the Most High

Shall abide under the shadow of the
Almighty.”  Psalms 91:1

We might feel unseen and unknown in the shadows.

Lord, we trust You and remember that You have not forsaken us shadow dwellers.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Shadowed

It’s hard to see
in the shadows

to understand
what’s going on

that this shade
of darkness

is His keeping
us from harm.

  1. This is so good, Sis Deb–a word to hang onto when we find ourselves in confusing, frightening shadows; that it’s not always a bad thing–so we need to listen for His Voice. God bless you with a terrific Tuesday–love, your Caddo sis

    • Love you, Sweet Sis Caddo and thank you for helping us who are in the shadows, to see Him who is shadowing us! God bless you biggest today!

  2. I RELY on this truth Deb. Thanks for the reminder.

    • Thank you for sharing your faith and reliance on Jesus with us, Pastor Bill! God bless you as you pray through Craveable!

  3. It’s funny how we mix up shadows and shade. We feel frightened by shadows when it is simply shade of protection.
    Good word Deb

    • Wonderful insight, Mr. Ben . .. the confusing of shadows with shade, of being sheltered with being cast aside. God bless you and keep you today!

    • I like that idea.

      Blessings,
      Theresa

      • Love you! Thank you for being here!

  4. Psalm 91 is one of my favorite passages of Scripture. I have went ot it many times in life when the trials seemed to be heaping up. Especially when my father was bed-ridden and dying of cancer. I have found that being under the wings of my Lord has been a absolute refuge from what ever was going on around me. Just knowing He was there, protecting, caring and meeting my needs everyday gave such a knowledge of peace and joy in the midst of the storms I was facing.
I thank HIm for being, not only my temporal, but my eternal refuge that gives me absolute assurance of my salvation and coming glorification and eternal life with HIm.
Thanks for this posting Deb. It touched my heart in a special way this morning. Lord bless you.

    • Psalms 91 is packed with so much, Pastor Rob. I’m so thankful that God used it to help you through such a difficult time . ..and uses it still in your life. Thank you for sharing about His refuge with us today! God bless you and yours!

  6. …And I would gladly stay hidden in His protective shadows as long as I know that they will safely transport me through the Valley of the Shadow of Death!

    • Staying hidden in His protective shadows . .. I loved that Pastor J. And I think that says something too .. .of what we can feel and why the protective shadows might not be understood. We are so hidden there. Thank you and God bless you every step of the way!

  7. When I am afraid I know I can hide in my Father’s Wing and when the storm is over I can come out for He keeps me safe.

    • Amen, dear Desiray . .He keeps us safe wherever we are. Thank you and God bless you!

  8. “This shade of darkness is keeping us from harm…” Yes…it feels scary, but God is really protecting us. *Thank you* Debbie.

  10. “It’s hard to see in the shadows” is so true, Debbie. We walk by faith – not by sight or by feelings. I needed to remind myself of this today, and it helped. Your lovely poem is timely for me.

    Blessings ~ Wendy

  11. I am so glad you made this post. Your poem is full of beauty and meaning. This part really speaks to me:

    “that this shade
    of darkness

    is His keeping
    us from harm.”

There are things the Lord hides from us, and things the Lord hides us from. I am so thankful for that.

    Love,
    Theresa

  13. >> “It’s hard to see in the shadows”
So true, Deb, it IS hard to see in the shadows, but when we are in HIS shadow, we have soooooooooooo much more light than we have living in the darkness of this world.
The darkness of this world gives us noooooooo comfort, but in His shadow, we can ABIDE – and then we see “this shade of darkness
is His keeping us from harm”

What an incredibly amazing God in whom we can abide in perfect safety and peace.

    • Mentor Angela .. .what an important truth you’ve reminded me of, that even in His shadow, we have light! Thank you and God bless you as you abide forever in Him!!!
