Out of Oppression

“He brought them out, after he had shown wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.” Acts 7:36

Could times of oppression bring forth even more of His signs and wonders?

Lord, in the midst of our own situations, help us hold on to the miracle of You and Your deliverance. And here’s a simple poem . . .

Ripe For Wonders

Oppression comes from outside us
and pushes us to the ground

it laughs in the face of Jesus
and kicks us while we’re down

but it’s out of these places
that signs and wonders are seen

as His people cry out for deliverance
to the glory of their King.

  1. Beautiful! Always remembering it’s not about me, but about Him.

    • Great point, Ted! When things are tough and oppressive, it gets hard to see how it’s going to glorify Him, But there’s a way!
God bless you and yours . . .and your new pup, Dug!

  2. A-men Deb! Miracles come when they are NEEDED and victory only comes when there is BATTLE. God bless you!

    • Pastor J . . .thank you! I love this and will remember it for now and the future! :)
God bless you and all He is doing in your life!

  3. “..but it’s out of these places
that signs and wonders are seen..”

People who want to see miracles must first need them. Well said.

    • Thank you, Larry, for understanding and clarifying when and why miracles are done. :) God bless you and all that He is leading you through and to.

  4. I’m crying out for deliverance…
    Expecting wonders to see!

I just read this passage: So as you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but chosen and priceless in God’s sight, you yourselves, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood and to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. ~1Peter 2:3-4

Just as He was rejected by men, I have been rejected. But, I have this promise that He is building me up as He builds His house. Rejected stones becoming living stones…that’s a wonder to see!

    Thanks, Deb.

    • I’m believing with you, Michelle, for those wonders and deliverance. God bless you and comfort you as He builds you up again.
      love you!

  5. This should cause us to run to the throne of grace with hearts full of expectation! :)

    Beautiful post!

    Love,
    Theresa

    • Oh, I really like that visual image, wonderful woman of the word! :) God bless you as you go to Him today!
love you and am missing reading you and everyone! :(

  6. Let the oppressors laugh all they want. Those of us who really know Jesus take comfort in His truth and miraculous ways. Scoffers… ha!

    • What is that saying about he who laughs first? :) God bless you, Linda and His truth that reigns in you!
      love and prayers!

  7. Thanks Deb,

I’m watching the world economy and chewing on this since yesterday …. What we choose as our mainstay will have to sustain us when the rubber meets the road.

“Lord, in the midst of our own situations, help us hold on to the miracle of You and Your deliverance.”
    I pray alongside you.

    Blessings,
    ann

    • Great observation, Ann full of grace! Let’s choose Him as our mainstay for He is able to sustain us and deliver us, to save us and redeem us!
God bless you as you pray and love Jesus today!

  8. How many of us do our part in this world until his return…I often wonder if fellow Christians (of my past) complain and only wish he would return so they do not have to suffer in their own makings (thinking out loud :) )

I do know as time goes by I am thankful for all he has given me, placed in my heart, I have no need for anything but what sustains me til his return…life as we know it can be so wonderful…a song drifting up to the world…

BTW Debbie, the last poem on JC site was wonderful. I really enjoyed it!

    Peace my friend…

    • Thank you so much, Elizabeth, for stopping by and commenting, for your faith and love and peace! It shows and blesses us! :)
God bless you and keep you in His perfect love today!

  9. If I were not rejected and oppressed I wouldn’t have known that the wondrous ways of the Lord and focus on His love. Love you Deb :)

    • Oh that is so true. I love how you focus on Him and find the good in what has happened! God bless you as He loves on you today!

  10. Deb, thank you for this timely spiritual manna. I am in a season and so ‘timely ‘represents a bit of a broad category for me now, but this past week has added a huge new aspect. I so need what you have written. Stay encouraged, precious Sister! Your lighthouse is not in vain. Keep the beam going. Yet, I pray also that your own energies will be renewed in Him and in His provisions for you-specific to your needs.

    Hugs!
    A.

    • Your comment has me in tears, Angel A. Thank you so much. Praying and believing that your Deliverer and deliverance is near and that nothing you go through is in vain.
God bless you and assure you of His love today! I love you too!
