All Things New

Last year I very slowly re-did our tiny bathroom, as inexpensively as I could . . .and by only doing things I could do myself.  While a far cry from perfect, the bathroom looks new to us.  This year I’ve set my sights on re-doing a bedroom.

Jesus, we thank You for giving us new life, new hearts, new minds, new hope . . .and a new forever habitation with You.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us as we become new in Him.

Extreme Make-Over

God has promised
to make all things new,
no more pain and sorrow
for me or you

and a place to dwell
forever with Him -
now that’s what I call
righteous remodeling!

“Behold, I make all things new.”  Revelation 21:5

He Never Forgets

Even When

Even when I forget You
and end in a bad way

my moans and groans rise up
and You hear them in the day.

Though an earless dirt clod
dry and crumbling fast

You see and acknowledge me
Your promises all last.

“So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.  And God looked upon the children of Israel and God acknowledged them.”  Exodus 2:24-25

Hearing Voices

We’ve heard or read of people who committed violent crimes, saying they heard a voice telling them to. Not good!

But, there is a voice that speaks truth to our souls and it’s so good to hear . . .it’s God’s voice.

Once I asked God what He wanted me to do. I expected to hear I needed to be a better wife, mother, daughter, everything and do more.  Instead He told me to be His song.  My faith and trust in Him exploded 10 trillion percent!  And I’m not even musical in anyway! ha!

Jesus, we thank You for speaking to our hearts today, with the voice of truth.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to hear His voice.

Then A Voice Came Saying

“Praise our God
all you His servants
and those who fear Him
both small and great”,
And I heard a voice
like many waters
saying, “Alleluia
our Lord God reigns!”

(from Revelation 19:5-6)

“Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory.”  Revelation 19:7

What’s In A Name?

My oldest daughter has a name close to sounding like Jessica.  While in school, if the teacher called her Jessica, she wouldn’t respond.  That was NOT her name. !

Lord, I thank You today for calling us and choosing us . . .and helping us to stand faithfully for You.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to come to Him when we’re called.

Called Out

The Lamb will go to war
against those who hate Him,
and He will overcome
for He is the Lord.

The ones who stand with Him
are called, chosen and faithful,
these are the names I want
for you and for me.

“. . .and those who are with Him are called, chosen and faithful.”  Revelation 17:14

Getting Sloppy?

There have been a few times when items have been taken out of my car.  Nothing major.  Just a case of me getting sloppy and not locking  it to protect what was ours.

Jesus, as I watch and wait for You, may I not get sloppy or neglectful of keeping the ways of God.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to stay prepared for Him.

Be Clothed

I will come as a thief
at an unknown hour,
blessed is he who watches
still prepared for Me.
Wear Me like a garment
clothe your heart in My salvation,
don’t hang Me in the closet
folded and put away.

“Behold, I am coming as a thief.  Blessed is he who watches and keeps his garments . . .”   Revelation 16:15

Readying For Reaping

My eyes delight at the sight of tiny corn plants sprouting in the fields.  It must be tricky business for the farmers to plant their crops amidst too much rain or too little, all the while yearning for a good harvest yet to come.

Jesus, thank You for growing us and all the seeds we plant for You.   May Your heavenly harvest be huge!

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us as we ready the harvest for Him.

Sickle Select

Planted here on earth
to grow and take root,
am I just taking in the elements
or producing good fruit?
Let me add to the harvest
which one day will come,
laboring for the glory
of the Holy risen Son.

“Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.”  Revelation 14:15

Patience and Faith

As my youngest goes through a time of seizures, it requires both patience and faith. Patience . . .to face the challenges and limitations this brings. Faith . . .to know God is with her, has good plans for her and this time will come to an end.

Jesus, we thank You that the pain and suffering we see in the world today will not go on forever.  You will come and set things right.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to have patience and faith in Jesus today.

Why Not Now?

Here in lies the patience
and faith of the saints

wrapped up in their God
Who alone is great

spreading His gospel message
to every tribe and tongue

saying the hour is growing late,
now is the time to come.

“Fear God and give glory to Him for the hour of His judgement has come.”  Revelation 14:7

Good Story, Good Ending

My daughter still needs picture books read to her, and I’m so glad.I love picture books too!  Only sometimes we read one that doesn’t have much meaning . . .or we’re disappointed at how the book ends.

Jesus, thank You for letting us know Your story and how it ends, that it will be good!

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to read His story all the way to the end . . .and know that it is good.

Thrown Out

War will break out
even in heaven
Michael and his angels
versus satan and his own.

Good will prevail
the deceiver cast out
no more of his accusing
before God’s throne,

totally overcome
by the Blood and the words
of those whose testimonies
make life in Christ known.

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”  Revelation 12:11

Simple Poem Sunday

Reality Check

And when the world is telling lies
with the power to hypnotize
so despite the cost, each one buys
I’ll find the truth within Your eyes.

And when my heart is full of whys
pain and temptation calls and vies
to have their way so all hope dies,
I’ll find the truth within Your eyes.

For there’s a place where grace abides
and mercy’s like a flag that flies
over the Love that testifies
I’ll find the truth within Your eyes.

“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” – Jesus  (John 14:6)

In Need Of A Savior

My mom fell again on the one day a week I was away from home, cleaning for someone else.  While on the phone checking on my mom, my daughter had a major seizure in the bedroom.  While taking care of my daughter, I missed my husband’s call that his truck broke down and he needed a ride home from the garage where it’s getting fixed. !

Lord Jesus, thank You for being everywhere and everything for everyone, all the time.  You are our one and only Savior, who rescues us in our times of need.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to our Savior for salvation.

Salvation Owned

A great multitude stood
with palm branches in hand,
saying, “Salvation belongs to
our God and the Lamb.”

(from Revelation 7:9-10)

“And all the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God.”  Revelation 7:11
