Rewards

I keep trying to come up with a way to help us out financially.  God keeps returning me to the work  He has given me, the non-paying kind!

Jesus, thank You for reminding me that the rewards for obeying, trusting and believing You are much greater than what the world can give.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us when our rewards lie solely within Him!

His Portion

Abram rescued his brother’s son
and brought back the kings’ goods,
but didn’t take a cut of it
not feeling that he should.
Soon God shared with Abram
what his reward would be,
descendants more than the stars
and a land from Egypt to the River Euphrates.

“And he believed in the Lord. . .”  Genesis 15:6

The Right Choice

Aubrey went through a bracelet making time.  While she really liked one in particular, she willingly decided to let me chose which one I wanted first.

Oh Jesus, please grow in me the faith and trust to know as long as I’m walking with You, I’ve made the right choice.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to choose Him!

Of His Choosing

Abram said to Lot, “Let’s separate
so our herdsmen do not fight,
if you go right, then I’ll choose left
if you choose left, then I’ll go right.”
So Lot looked east, choosing Jordan,
a garden-like plain,
while God looked with Abram
and blessed his land just the same.

“Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are . . .”  Genesis 13:14

Covered

For Aubrey’s MRI, I tried to arrange to be with her until she fell asleep.  The hospital staff had other plans and procedures.  So, she went back for anesthesia with the nurses, covered by God.

Jesus, thank You for keeping and covering us.  There’s way too much going on beyond our control, so we trust in Your’s  today.

Here’s a simple poem to remind us that we’re covered by Him.

Plan A

Abram was afraid
he’d be killed for his wife
so he claimed Sarai as his sister
in order to save his life,
forgetting he was covered -
God has all things in hand -
no need to worry
about what others plan.

” I will bless you
And make your name great;
and you shall be a blessing.”  Genesis 12:2

Rainbow Hope

We love to find rainbows arching across the sky.  Somehow they give us hope and make us smile!

Lord, thank You for the hope and joy Your promises bring into our lives!

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to find hope in His promises.

Promise Keeper

As You leave a promise
in the clouds to see
that You’ll never again
flood the earth completely,
may we keep looking up
waiting and watching for You,
showing that we’re listening
by doing what You want us to.

“I set my rainbow in the cloud and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.”  Genesis 9:13

Communication

At first I thought Aubrey could communicate because she was verbal.  Then a wise lady taught me that communication is the ability to make something happen.  People who can’t communicate well with words use their behavior instead.

Oh Jesus, may I be ready for You to communicate with me today!

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to allow Jesus to make something happen in us!

Starting Over

Then God remembered Noah
whom He had set adrift
upon his ark of gopher wood,
no, He did not forget,
the reason why He flooded
the earth to start afresh -
so He might have a people
with whom to communicate with.

“Then God spoke to Noah saying, ‘Go out of the ark, you and your wife, your sons and your son’s wives with you.’”  Genesis 8:15-16

Especially for You

When we go to clean someone’s house, I try to ask if there’s anything they especially want done, even if it’s not normal house-cleaning duties.  Today, the client mentioned the blinds were getting dusty.  Now I know what she would like me to especially do!

Jesus, we come to You and ask if there’s something You especially want us to do today.  Because what’s important to You is important to us!

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us as we especially seek to please Him!

“Make yourself an ark . . .”

Whatever You ask
may I do,
out of my love
and desire to please You.

“Thus Noah did, according to all that God commanded him, so he did.”  Genesis 6:22

Graceful Strides

On horse therapy days, Aubrey wears a pair of boots with heels.  They are great at helping her feet stay in the stirrups, but not so easy for her to walk in.  She hangs on to me as needed.

Lord, as life throws us “new shoes” to walk in, please help us to remember it’s okay to lean on You.  That way You can catch us when we stumble and fall!

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us in our walk with Him!

Walking

In the beginning
there were men
who walked with You
finding grace even then,
and so I desire
to walk here and now
with You always
as Your grace shows me how.

“. . .Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  Noah walked with God.”  Genesis 6:8,9

History

In Hyrum W. Smith’s book, The 10 Natural Laws of Successful Time and Life Management, he explains how our behavior reflects   what’s on our “belief window.”   I thought about Eve’s encounter with the snake.  Eve had always believed God up to that point. Afterwards? Well, the rest is history.

Jesus, when my behaviors aren’t what I want them to be, please help me check to see who or what I’m believing, and change according to Your truth.  Amen.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us in believing Him.

In The Garden

Oh Eve, why did you succumb
to the evil one
and eat what you
were told not to?
Now I see
some of you in me
as I look for a way
around the word “obey”.

“And the Lord said to the woman,” What is this you have done?”  And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”  Genesis  3:13

The Breath of Life

The late March snow and ice dampens the spring spirit.  But, spring won’t be denied, even if delayed!

Oh Lord, may the light and life You’ve placed within me flourish, despite how I feel or what is going on.

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us to persevere in Jesus name.

Re:New

Feeling much like the dust
from which I’m formed -
please breathe in me again
and let me be reborn.

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”  Genesis 2:7

Hi and Hello!

My husband greets his friends with the term “brother”.  Though not so biologically, they do share common bonds.

Jesus, please help me greet others in Your name today, finding a way to express the joy a bond with You creates!

Here’s a simple poem to encourage us as we greet one another!

Greetings

Mercy, peace and love
be multiplied to you
who are called, sanctified
and preserved by Christ too! (Jude 1:1-2)

“Now to Him who is able to keep
you from stumbling,
And to present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory
with exceeding joy,
To God our Savior,
Who alone is wise,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,
Both now and forever.
Amen.”  Jude 1:24-25
