This One Will Comfort Us

image

“And he called his name Noah, saying, “This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands . . .”  Genesis 5:29 NKJV

I often read about stepping outside of our comfort zones.

Thank You, Lord, for being our Great Comforter and calling out others to comfort us too.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

There is no shame
in needing His comfort

as we step out
into our day

into the world
full of toil and heartache

so I seek it from Him
and I pray.

God bless you and comfort you today.

When I Don’t Do Well

image

“If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door.  And it’s desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”  Genesis 4:7 NKJV

It can be very humbling to not do well, but it is not a sin.

Thank You, Lord, for the humbling times and what You show me in them.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

If I do well
I may be accepted

by my peers
and the like.

If I do not do well
I can be rejected

but never by
my Jesus Christ.

God bless you as you do your best today, whatever that looks like!

God Has Said

image

“. . .God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” Genesis 3:3 NKJV
“And the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die’.” Genesis 3:4 NKJV

I can be so easily influenced.

Thank You, Lord, for knowing what I do and don’t need in my life.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Lord, You speak truth
for my heart to hear

that I may trust completely
and not fall prey to fear

so even when someone
comes and contradicts

I can love and bless them
still holding on to Your gifts.

God bless you and remind you of what He has said to you today.

Naked and Not Ashamed

“And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”  Genesis 2:25 NKJV

There is something about the trees after they lose their leaves that is so beautiful to me.

Thank You, Lord, for taking away our shame at the cross.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

We can stand before You
now unashamed

because You’ve taken
it all away

giving Your righteousness
and Your grace

to wear forever
and a day.

God bless you as you stand before Him today.

Very Good

“Then God saw everything that He had made and indeed it was very good.” Genesis 1:31 NKJV

God does not do anything bad.

Thank  You, Lord,  for creating such a good earth filled with good things for us.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

God saw all
that He created

as only
He could

the earth
and it’s inhabitants

and that it was
so good.

God bless you as you enjoy what He has made!

What Death

“This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, ‘Follow Me’.”  John 21:19. NKJV

Even our deaths can bring Him glory.

Thank You, Lord, for making a way for us to glorify You, no matter what. And here is a simple poem . . .

Lord, You know I love You
as best as I can

am trying to feed Your sheep
and take care of your lambs

so oh what a comfort
that my death will have no sting

but be another opportunity
to glorify my King.

God bless you as you love Him and follow Him today!

Blessed To Believe

“Jesus said to him, ‘Thomas, because you have seen me, you have believed.  Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet have believed.’” John 20:29  NKJV

“And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book;

but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.”  John 20:30-31  NKJV

Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like to be with Jesus like His disciples were.

Thank You, Lord, for blessing each one who hears and believes.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

These things are written
that we may believe

that Jesus is
the Christ

for blessed are those
who not seeing, believe

and in His name
have life.

God bless your life in His name!

We Have A King

“Pilate said to them, ‘Shall I crucify your King?’  The chief priests answered, ‘We have no king but Caesar!’ “. John 19:15. NKJV

Jesus is the King of kings.

Thank You, Lord, for ruling over us with righteousness and grace.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

“We have no king
but Caesar”

they said
before they knew

they had indeed
an eternal King

and that King
was You.

God bless you as you serve your King today!

Of Swords And Cups

“Then Jesus said to Peter, ‘Put your sword into the sheath.  Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?’”  John 18:11. NKJV

Jesus was overcoming His enemy in a way no one could see or understand.

Thank You, Lord, for drinking the cup Your Father gave You and helping us  to drink ours.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Oh Lord, give us wisdom
and discernment

about all that’s
happening

that we may drink
from our cups

knowing it’s not needless
suffering.

God bless you and the cup He’s given you!

Sanctified And Sent

“I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.”  John 17:15  NKJV

“Saanctify them by Your truth.  Your word is truth.”  John 17:17  NKJV

“As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.”  John 17:18  NKJV

Jesus does not send us out ill equipped.

Thank You, Lord, for keeping us and covering us.  And here’s a simple poem . . .

Into this world
You’ve sent us

to be where we
should be

kept from
the evil one

by Your truth
sanctified and free.

God bless you as you go out today.
